How can I plant thorn bushes as a barrier in the back of my property?

I wanna fill in the rear of my property with some type of thorn bush as a barrier to deter animals and would be intruders. Is this hard to do? Expense? I'm not sure what type to use, I'm in Atlanta, Ga.
