How gory is Pans laberynth?

When I was about 12 I watched some of the film up to when Ofelia escaped the pale man. What I saw was amazing, but I was wondering... I'm a baby when it comes to gore, I know the film is meant to be nearly an 18 because of gore and I remember the parts I saw being quite gory. I was wonering how much gorier it got? I really want to see it again and the whole way through. How bad do you think it is compared to say... District 9 or Schindlers List or No Country for old men. What's the worst bit aswell?
