Why do conservatives who hate affirmative action support republicans?

Clarence Thomas is a very capable candidate. Yale law graduate, istant Attorney General, Private Law experience, Circuit Court of Appeals, and a bunch of other things. Michael Steele ... probably not the best choice for his position but its just a party leader... but he does have the credentials. shrug. Steele may have been a token but Thomas, Thomas was and is qualified and capable.
